We spent a lovely day in Glasgow yesterday wandering around familiar haunts (in the also familiar Glasgow rain...). The sun did come out though for a glorious few minutes just as we arrived at the Botanic Gardens. This was the first time I had seen Kibble Palace since its restoration and boy is it looking handsome.
I made a quick sketch sitting inside the main dome, with more very much appreciated encouragement from Kasia!
I'm still trying to learn to focus on capturing the 'idea' of something rather than specific detail.

There was lots of inspiration to be had, particularly in the fantastic ‘killer plants’ room (!) – the colours and structures of the pitcher plants in particular giving us lots of ideas for future projects… .

Great sketch! I find that this kind of focus is good for all the creative juices. I am not very good at drawing, but I do like taking digital photos and then sketching a portion of them. You never know what will come unlocked out of the brain!! xx
Hey Kate I'm about to do the same next week. Looking forward to the 'killer plants' room. When people ask me (in Scotland) how the weather is in the States I always use the comparison of the Botnic Gardens!
Jude.
I think your nieces would like the killer plants room too!
Thanks everyone :) and Jude have a great time back in Glasgow, and Zo: M & I would love the whole place :D
